Reece James has shown glimpses of his world-class ability for Chelsea, earning him comparisons with Brazilian legends like Cafu and Dani Alves.
The biggest issue however has been an inability to stay fit, with injuries threatening to curtail his career.
The England international has struggled to remain fit the last few seasons, managing to make just 9 appearances for the club this campaign, and 24 in the last two seasons combined.
Chelsea to swap Reece James for Tchouameni?
Now, according to Defensa Central, the Blues are finally willing to cut their losses and part ways with the talented full-back by sending him to Real Madrid in a swap deal.
The report states that Chelsea want defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and will attempt to use James as a makeweight to make the deal possible.
The defensive midfielder’s contract with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2028 and given his importance in the team, it is unlikely that this will be an easy deal for Chelsea to do.
The Blues are keen on bolstering their midfield options with British record signing Moises Caicedo failing to show the talent that made Chelsea break the bank for his signature.
