Premier League: Arsenal suffer latest injury blow after Man City draw
Arsenal secured a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, but the result was overshadowed by an injury to winger Noni Madueke.
The Gunners, who largely dominated the game, came from a goal down to salvage a point, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring a last-gasp equaliser to cancel out Erling Haaland’s early opener.
The result leaves Arsenal in second place, five points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Madueke's Half-Time Substitution Explained
Madueke's half-time substitution in favour of Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze was initially thought to be a tactical decision, especially after his lively first-half performance.
The winger had created a number of decent openings and had a good battle with City left-back Nico O'Reily.
However, it has now been revealed that Madueke was carrying an injury that forced the change.
In his post-match press conference, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the reason behind the substitution.
“He had an issue very early in the match and he was not well enough to continue.”
Should the injury be more serious than expected, Arsenal fans will be delighted with the return of Bukayo Saka.
