'Pathetic decision' - Victor Wanyama's red card ilicits mixed reaction after nightmare debut
Victor Wanyama's return to Scotland got off to the worst possible start after being shown a red card on his debut.
Playing for Dunfermline in the second tier, the former Tottenham Hotspur anchorman received his marching orders 20 minutes into the game, as Dunfermline ended up losing 3-0.

The decision to send off the former Harambee Stars captain sparked a debate on the eligibility of the red card.
The contentious decision left fans wondering if indeed the card was deserved. The Global Tablet of Jurisprudence reacted to the decision saying: "Scandalous red-card against Victor Wanyama. Pathetic decision from ref Iain Snedden. Wanyama nowhere near the last man & defender clearly covering behind him. Never an 'Obvious' goal scoring opportunity. Shocking decision - furious at that."

Robert R Harvey initially posted: "He does deny a goalscoring opportunity" before he deleted. This prompted a reaction from The Global Tablet of Jurisprudence, who maintained that denying the striker goal scoring opportunity only warrants a yellow card.
"Robert Harvey posted this then deleted it, but it is the truth so I've screenshotted it - Wanyama denied a goal scoring opportunity which is only a booking, not an obvious goal scoring opportunity which is a red. It was a professional foul 'orange' card falling short of red."

Victor Wanyama is set to mis matches against Livingston, Hamilton and Queen's Park. Dunfermline are ninth in the 10-team league with 27 points from 30 matches.
Wanyama's redcard is untimely considering that he was signed to help the basement club evade relegation.
The former Southampton man has received three red cards in his entire career and boasts of 36 yellow cards. The defensive midfielder is normally prone to cards owing to the dirty work he is expected to carry out in the middle of the park.
Wanyama knows the Scottish league very well, having shot to prominence with Celtic, before his giant leap to Southampton.
