Nottingham Forest are reportedly in advanced negotiations to appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.

Dyche has emerged as the leading candidate to take the helm at the City Ground, with the Premier League club hopeful of finalizing an agreement on Monday. The move comes after Postecoglou was sacked just 17 minutes after Forest's 3-0 league defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, a result that left the club 18th in the table with only one win in eight matches.

Sources close to the negotiations have indicated that discussions with Dyche over the past 24 hours have been positive, significantly increasing the likelihood of his appointment. While former Italy manager Roberto Mancini also held talks with club officials, and Fulham's Marco Silva is admired, Dyche is now considered the standalone candidate.

Appointing Silva is seen as complicated due to a substantial release clause in his Fulham contract and uncertainty over his willingness to leave mid-season. These factors are particularly relevant given Forest have already incurred costs from dismissing both Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo this season.

The potential appointment of Dyche follows a period of significant instability at Forest. Owner Evangelos Marinakis dismissed Nuno just three games into the season, bringing in Postecoglou on September 9th.

However, the Australian's tenure was short-lived. He failed to secure a single victory and was relieved of his duties after only 39 days, marking the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League history.

Dyche's Managerial Pedigree

For Dyche, the role would represent a return to a club where he was a youth player in the late 1980s under the legendary Brian Clough, though he never made a senior appearance. He has been out of management since being sacked by Everton in January after nearly two years in charge.

Before his time at Everton, Dyche enjoyed a highly successful decade at Burnley from 2012 to 2022. He guided the Clarets to two promotions to the Premier League and secured their first European qualification since 1967. He also had a season-long spell managing Watford before a change in ownership led to his departure.
