Noah Lyles set for surprise season opener against respectable field in Florida

Sprint champion Noah Lyles has been listed in a surprise season opener at a college meet in Florida.

World and Olympic champion Noah Lyles is scheduled for a surprise race at the RADD Sports College Invitational in Florida on Saturday, January 25th.

Lyles has been listed to compete in the 60m, facing a respectable field in Nigerian sprint sensation and training mate Udodi Onwuzurike, Irish track star Israel Olatunde, Caleb Dean, and Jaylen Slade.

The meet is expected to be a pre-preparation ahead of his official season opener at the New Balance Indoor Prix on February 2nd, where he's listed to headline the men's 60 event alongside Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs.

Lyles will be gunning to defend his crown from last year, and hope it can ignite having another memorable season. Last year, the American sprint champion began with victory at the Prix.

He went ahead to win his first USA national indoor title, two silver medals at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, won the 100m and 200m at the US Olympic Trials. and finally gold and bronze medals at the Paris Olympics in the 100m and 200m.

With so much at stake this season, especially defending his titles at the World Championships in Tokyo, Lyles will be aiming to kick off on a winning note in Florida, as well as run a massive statement-making time.
