Golden Eaglets and WAFU AFCON qualifiers
The WAFU U-17 qualifiers are the preliminary stages for a spot in the U-17 AFCON, scheduled for Morocco.
WAFU have unveiled the group pairings for the qualification tournament.
Nigeria's Golden Eaglets will face Benin Republic and Burkina Faso in their only two group games to determine which team advances to the knockout stages.
The other Group features four teams, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger Republic, Togo, and Ghana with two advancing to the semifinals.
The group games start on September 20 and the tournament will be concluded on October 10, 2025
The Golden Eaglets have a rich history with a record five times (1985, 1993, 2007, 2013, and 2015) winning the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
They will have to navigate a tricky regional test to book one of two tickets to the AFCON.
If they qualify, the AFCON will also serve as an opportunity for the Golden Eaglets to book a ticket to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
