NBA Play-In: Warriors and Magic book playoff spots

In the Tuesday nightcap, the Golden State Warriors had to fight hard to survive the Memphis Grizzlies after appearing to be headed for their own landslide victory.

Stephen Curry was given new life by Jimmy Butler, and the Warriors overcame a Grizzlies rally thanks to the combined 75 points scored by their two offensive stars.

Curry scored a huge 37 points in the fourth quarter, while Butler scored 38 points, the majority of which came in the first half.

With 5.4 seconds remaining with the ball down three points, Memphis had an opportunity to tie the game, but it was prematurely ended by a five-seconds violation.

The Warriors will now play the Houston Rockets, the second-seeded team, in the opening round of the playoffs.

In Memphis, the Grizzlies will now face the Dallas Mavericks or Sacramento Kings in the last play-in game of the Western Conference.

The Magic won the first game of the NBA play-in on Tuesday, 120-95, after taking a decisive lead in the first quarter and overcoming a comeback by the Hawks led by Trae Young.

By winning, the Magic guarantee seventh place in the Eastern Conference playoffs and advance to face the second-seeded Boston Celtics in the first round.

The winner of the Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls East play-in game on Wednesday will face Atlanta in an elimination round on Friday.

In the first round, the winner of Friday's game will face the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, while the loser will have their season ended. The winner will also earn the eighth seed in the East.
