Mason Greenwood: Getafe win appeal against red card decision

LALIGA club Getafe have received a massive boost after Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood’s red card against Rayo Vallecano was overturned. 

Pulse Sports Nigeria can report that Greenwood will be available for the Blues after his dismissal in the ill-tempered LALIGA was rescinded by Spain’s Competition Committee.

The 22-year-old was sent for an early shower after a bizarre sending-off by the referee in the 50th minute on Tuesday.

Greenwood’s dismissal arrived after the youngster protested to the official following a foul which was ignored by the referee.

Per the Athletic, Jorge Figueroa Vazquez, who was the referee in the game, noted in his report that the Manchester United star was sent off for saying ‘f**k you* in his direction. 

However, Jorge’s account was at variance with Getafe’s manager, who stated that the player only said ‘f**k sake* and did not insult anyone. 

Following the accounts, Getafe’s appeal was successful, with Greenwood now available for their next match in the league. 

Getafe, who received two other red cards in the encounter, went on to lose the clash 2-0 courtesy of goals from Sergio Camello.

With the appeal now successful, Getafe will welcome back their superstar Greenwood for the clash against Espanyol in the Copa Del Rey before taking on Osasuna in the LALIGA on Sunday.
