Lookman vs Atalanta: Club and player disagree on future destination of Nigerian star
Atalanta and Ademola Lookman have different ideas on where his next club should be, with the Bergamo-based club preferring to sell him abroad, while the Nigerian prefers to stay in Italy.
The interested parties
Lookman currently has three clubs actively gunning for his signature: Inter, Napoli and Atletico Madrid. The Nigeria international has already accepted Inter’s proposal and rejected a superior financial offer from Napoli. This leaves Atletico Madrid as the wild card.
The LALIGA giants are keen on Lookman but have not submitted an offer to the player or his club, as they are still working on exits.
La Dea are demanding €50 million to sell Lookman, as Pulse Sports reported, a fee the Nerazurri have difficulties matching. Atletico also want to pay less than the quoted fee or, at least, include Samuel Lino in the deal.
Lookman vs Atalanta: A clash in preference
Reports from Italy, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, are that the former Everton forward prefers to join the Nerazzurri, evident in his rejection of Napoli's €5 million per annum bid, despite its superiority to Inter’s reported €4.5 million offer, which he accepted.
However, the 2023/24 Europa League winners would prefer to sell to a non-Italian club, Atletico Madrid. This is not expected to be an issue, however, as La Dea will sell to any club that matches their demands.
