Lamine Yamal: Barcelona fans dream of Messi after 4-1 rout against Girona

Teenager Lamine Yamal was the highlight of FC Barcelona's 4-1 victory over Girona, to keep their winning streak in the La Liga this season.

The team that destroyed Real Valladolid 7-0 was maintained by Barca manager Hansi Flick, with Yamal and Raphinha lining up on either side of Robert Lewandowski up top.

Lamal strung the ball to score the first goal in the thirty-first minute of play as the game got off to a wild start.

After Robert Lewandowski's ball was put through, Yamal curled a shot to double their lead seven minutes later.

A tight-angled shot from Dani Olmo two minutes after the restart gave the Catalan giants the perfect start to the second period.

Barca kept up the pressure on Girona, and shortly after the hour, Pedri scored a well-taken goal off a Marc Casado through pass to make it 4-0.

Ten minutes before the end, Cristhian Stuani scored a consolation goal for the White and Reds after Portu's through pass.

Torres played just 16 minutes before being sent out for a late and careless challenge in the final minutes, leaving Barcelona down to 10 men.

After five rounds of games, Blaugrana increased their lead over Real Madrid, their opponents in second place, to four points at the top of the table.

Yamal's two goals sparked a debate among Barcelona fans comparing him to Messi.

According to the reactions that dominated the social media trends, there were positive comments about the potential of Yamal.

Some Barcelona fans even suggested that he could soon be wearing the iconic number 10 jersey.
