Kobbie Mainoo: Massive Salary Man United Cult Hero is Set to Earn After Signing New Contract
Manchester United has officially announced that rising star Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long-term contract, securing his future at the club until 2031.
The five-year deal represents a significant vote of confidence in the 21-year-old midfielder and includes a substantial pay increase, boosting his weekly salary to a reported £150,000. This marks a remarkable 500% rise from his previous £25,000-a-week terms, which were set to expire in 2027.
The contract extension marks a dramatic turnaround for Mainoo, who had reportedly requested a loan move during the January transfer window under former manager Ruben Amorim. However, the club denied the request, and the England international subsequently re-established himself as a key player under interim boss Michael Carrick.
Mainoo Delighted to Extend Stay at His ‘Home’
Negotiations between the club and Mainoo's representatives have been ongoing since last year, with a breakthrough reached in January. This new agreement is the player's first salary increase since he was 17.
"Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family," Mainoo said after the deal was confirmed. "I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six."
"We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead."
United's chief, Jason Wilcox, praised the young talent, highlighting his importance to the team's future.

"Kobbie is one of the most naturally gifted young footballers in the world," Wilcox stated. "His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding Academy system. We have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world."
Mainoo's recent form has been exceptional, having started 13 of the last 14 matches for the Red Devils. His resurgence at club level also earned him a recall to the England squad, where he featured in two recent friendlies ahead of the upcoming World Cup selection by manager Thomas Tuchel.
With Casemiro expected to depart on a free transfer, Manchester United is reportedly in the market for a defensive midfielder to partner with Mainoo in the upcoming season.
