‘I'm proud of my players’ - Galatasaray manager happy after Ndidi’s blunder gifts Osimhen’s team a draw
Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Wilfred Ndidi found themselves settling for a 1-1 draw between Galatasaray and Besiktas at Rams Park.
Tammy Abraham scored for the visitors in the first half before Davinson Sánchez as sent off before halftime.
The Lions were able to settle for a draw after a costly mistake from Ndidi gifted Ilkay Gündoğan the equaliser that preserved Galatasaray’s unbeaten run in the Turkish Super Lig.
What Buruk said
Speaking after the game, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk praised his side’s resilience after the match.
"I'm proud of my players' fight. They fought all game, ten men against eleven. Despite coming off a very difficult match, they displayed a very important example of fight today.
“We could have won the match; we created chances. At the end of the day, we were disappointed to drop a point. Still, the fight they put up was crucial."
The draw ended Galatasaray’s perfect start to the Turkish Super Lig but kept them top of the table with 22 points from eight games.
Fifth-placed Besiktas, with 13 points, will be encouraged by their disciplined away performance against their city rivals.
Osimhen and Ndidi are set to join the Super Eagles in Polokwane for international duty later this month, participating in Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
