Hit Squad coach Benjamin Musa confident of remarkable results at global show

Hit Squad head coach Benjamin Musa is bullish about the team emerging victorious at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships scheduled for Wednesday 15 to Sunday 26 March at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi, India.

The veteran coach noted that with the rigorous training, the team of 11 boxers has undergone, nothing can stop them from making a mark at the global event. The team had been in a non-residential training camp at the Mathare Depot for seven weeks.

He noted that scoring prowess was their Achilles heel and that was their main focus during training.

“We have done our due diligence…the players have responded well to the training. We have emphasized on scoring because that’s the major undoing of our players,” he said.

The team is a mix of experienced and upcoming talent. The experienced players include 2018 Commonwealth Games fly weight bronze medallist Christine Ongare, African Championships heavy weight silver medallist Elizabeth Andiego and Olympian Elizabeth Akinyi among others.

Speaking to NTV, Musa reported that they have not had any cases of injuries and the players had responded well to the training.

Meanwhile, welterweight pugilist Frizzah Anyango is also bubbling with confidence ahead of the event. “The training went well and I hope I will come back with a medal from the event,” she said.
