‘He’s like a father figure’ - Super Eagles star Bright Osayi reveals the best coach he played under

Osayi has played under several managers and has become one of the top players for both club and country.

The defender was recently in action for the Super Eagles as they secured qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Despite playing under different managers in his career, Osayi has named his current manager Jose Mourinho as his best coach.

Osayi has spoken about his time working under Jose Mourinho, characterising the legendary coach as a hard tutor as well as a father figure.

Reflecting on their bond, Osayi-Samuel told Brila, “He’s like a father figure. But if you get on his wrong side, he can be your biggest enemy. Overall, though, I love him so much.

“He’s done so much for me so far, and he’s the best manager I’ve ever had, and I have had him for less than six months.”

This season, the 25-year-old full-back has made 11 appearances, including a dominant performance against Manchester United in the Europa League.

Osayi-Samuel added, “I just want to keep learning as much as possible under him and improve as a player.”

The defender, who joined Fenerbahce in 2021, has rapidly established himself as one of Mourinho's most reliable players because of his unwavering dedication and reliability.

Fenerbahce has soared to second place in the league standings behind champion Galatasaray this season under the guidance of the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager.
