Gareth Southgate has decided to remain in charge of the England national team

Maguire has continued to be invited to the Three Lions despite a lack of regular game time at Manchester United.

The 29-year-old has lost his place under new manager Erik Ten Hag after making just seven starts in 15 appearances in the Premier League this season.

He has become the fourth choice at Old Trafford with national teammate Luke Shaw preferred to him at centre-back.

However, despite the lack of game time, the former Leicester man continues to enjoy the favour and trust of his national team boss.

Southgate has come under heavy criticism for his faith in the United defender. But he has now been forced to admit that it is a situation that can’t continue.

"Inevitably it's not a situation that can continue forever, "Southgate said according to a report from 90min.
