Haaland backs himself to win Ballon d'Or over Lionel Messi

Haaland is a strong contender for this year's Ballon d'Or after a phenomenal year for Manchester City.

The 23-year-old scored 52 goals in 53 games last season as City went on to win the Champions League, Premier League and the FA Cup.

However, Haaland has a massive rival in Lionel Messi, who led Argentina to World Cup triumph.

"I believe in myself, I really do," he told France Football.

 "I know I can still improve a lot, I'm still young. But yes, I think I have a chance this year."
