The governor noted that having facilities that meet the international standards in every county will make this move easier for the country.

He added that if the country is to host such events, earlier preparations see them have an upper hand in terms of consideration.

“A few years to come, Kenya will be hosting global sporting events…it’s possible. We, however, need to set up upgraded facilities in the counties to avoid having difficulties hosting such events,” he said.

On Tuesday, March 7, Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba went to inspect the Bomet Stadium and Barchok pledged to work with the Ministry of Sports to ensure the stadium is complete and ready for use.

He said they will be looking to improve on the safety of the facility and make the necessary adjustments.

“We also expect that once everything is complete, this facility will have met the international standards. We shall be working closely with the relevant departments to make the necessary adjustments,” he said.
