The American sprint sensation was arrested in January 2025 in connection with an alleged incident from May 2024.

According to the initial police report, he was accused of engaging in a verbal dispute with his estranged ex-wife, which reportedly stemmed from his contact with another individual on Instagram.

On Thursday, January 15, Fred Kerley's attorney, Richard Cooper, confirmed the case's resolution. "I’m happy to report that the case was dismissed due to an utter lack of evidence and good faith to proceed by the prosecutor," Cooper stated.

He added, "My client could never and would not hurt a woman, especially the mother of his children. My client is looking forward to focusing on winning races and inspiring people around the world."

Following the dismissal, Fred Kerley shared his relief on social media. "They put me through hell, but truth walked me home. Cases dismissed. Blessing on blessings," he wrote in an Instagram post, accompanied by a photo of himself with his legal team. "Thanks to the best lawyer."

Meanwhile, his lawyer added: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice” -Dr MLK, Jr. They tried to keep him down, lock him in a cage, and steal one America’s greatest inspirations to our youth and our culture.

“Today, my promise to him was fulfilled. Grateful to @fkerley99 for your trust in me and allowing me to use the tools the Lord has given me to get his case DISMISSED!! If you know me, you know my clients are like family. This one was personal. Thankful to @justcallyale for working this one with me.”

At the time of his arrest for the domestic violence charge, Fred Kerley was already in custody for a separate incident involving Miami police, where he allegedly pushed an officer and was subsequently tased. That case appears to remain open.

He is also a multiple-time World Champion, with gold medals in the 100m (2022), 4x100m relay (2023), and 4x400m relay (2019).
