Multiple Olympics and world champion Faith Kipyegon is among those saddened by the tragic death of Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng'eno.

Ng'eno passed away following a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County last Saturday with the accident killing five other people who had boarded the ill-fated chopper with him.

The funeral service for the six was conducted on Friday with President William Ruto among those in attendance and Kipyegon has eulogised the late MP as a great champion for sports.

“I join the nation and the families in mourning the loss of six people who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash. Among them was my good friend Hon Johana Ngeno,” Kipyegon posted on her Instagram story.

“He was a fearless, committed and dedicated leader who tirelessly championed development and talent empowerment. Rest in peace.”

Ng’eno, who was serving his third term as Emurua Dikirr MP, was known as a man of the people who easily interacted with all regardless of their social standing in the society, a trait that endeared him to many.

The late MP’s recent involvement was when he graced the Cheptegei Sebei Regional Tournament organized by Ugandan athletics legend Joshua Cheptegei last month.

The fatal AS350 helicopter crashed at around 4:30 pm EAT in Chepkiep village, Mosop, Nandi County on February 28 with other victims being Ngeno’s cameraman Nick Koskei as well as Amos Rotich, and Robert Keter.
