Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic: The Biggest Names at the European Championship
EuroBasket 2022 was won by Spain after an 88-76 final against France.
However, for this edition, the Iberians are far from being favorites; in fact, they are considered long shots to even reach the semi-finals or quarter-finals.
Instead, the main contender for the title is Serbia, which a year ago nearly pulled off a major upset in the Olympic semi-finals against a United States team featuring LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry.
With a mature leader in Nikola Jokic and benefiting from great team chemistry, Serbia has a strong chance to win the gold medal.
The national teams that could challenge Serbia are Germany, the 2023 World Champions, and France, the 2024 Olympic silver medalists.
Notably, EuroBasket 2025 features the reigning European champions (Spain), the reigning World champions (Germany), and the Olympic silver and bronze medalists (France, Serbia).
Furthermore, three of the world's best players have confirmed their participation in the European Championship: Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic.
Also competing at EuroBasket 2025 are players who excel for their national teams, such as Lauri Markkanen (Finland), Deni Avdija (Israel), Alperen Sengun (Turkey), Kristaps Porzingis (Latvia), Franz Wagner (Germany), and Jonas Valanciunas (Lithuania).
In addition to the NBA stars, the national rosters are filled with key players from the EuroLeague, as well as naturalized Americans like Shane Larkin (Turkey), Darius Thompson (Italy), Kamar Baldwin (Georgia), and Jordan Loyd (Poland).
The games will not be broadcast on television in Nigeria and can only be watched online via the Courtside 1891 platform.
