Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge will compete in the 10km at the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025 on Sunday, November 30.
Eliud Kipchoge, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and former world record holder, will be lining up for the shorter distance. His presence is part of his role as Thailand's official Tourism, Sports, and Cultural Ambassador.
The 41-year-old, who won Olympic marathon titles in 2016 and 2020 and has 11 World Marathon Major victories to his name, is expected to draw significant attention to the event. He will be joining a field of over 30,000 runners for the race.
Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok: Participants to Compete for Royal Trophies
The 8th edition of the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok, part of the World Capital Marathon Series, will run from 2:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The course will begin at the MBK Centre and conclude at the historic Sanam Luang.
Participants will be competing for Royal Trophies graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen. The event organisers aim to establish the race as one of the top 10 officially recognised capital-city marathons worldwide.
The marathon is a collaborative effort organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), along with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, World Athletics, and Thailand Tri-League.
Eliud Kipchoge Thrilled to Be Back in Asia
Eliud Kipchoge confirmed that he has already travelled to Asia but has yet to head to Thailand, revealing that he had some business to handle in Shanghai.
“It’s so good to be back in Asia. First stop: Shanghai!” the five-time Berlin Marathon champion shared on his Instagram page.
Eliud Kipchoge also competed in last year’s edition of the event that brought together 33,000 participants from 77 countries, blending athleticism with Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
Eliud Kipchoge ran alongside Her Majesty Queen Suthida of Thailand, leading participants past some of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks and royal buildings.
Reflecting on the experience, Eliud Kipchoge shared on Instagram that he had enjoyed both the cultural immersion and the interaction with people from all walks of life.
He noted the honour of running the 10km in Bangkok alongside the Queen, passing iconic landmarks while thousands of participants and fans cheered along the route. “Thailand is truly amazing,” he added.
The event offered a refreshing change for Eliud Kipchoge, who is usually focused on marathon dominance. Eliud Kipchoge embraced the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate running and connect with a global community of enthusiasts.
