Chelsea eye ex-Man United star as Mason Mount replacement
Contract talks between Chelsea and Mason Mount have stalled, and with the eventuality of the 24-year-old leaving Stamford Bridge increasingly likely, Chelsea are weighing up options for a possible replacement, and they reportedly have their eyes set on Andreas Pereira.
The 27-year-old midfielder who outfitted for Manchester United is one of the best performers for Chelsea's West London rivals, Fulham, this season, and the blues are said to be keeping an eye on him.
Chelsea eye Pereira
ESPN reports that Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring Andreas Pereira's situation at Fulham, and they could be weighing up a move for the Brazilian to replace contract rebel Mason Mount.
Pereira signed for Fulham from Manchester United last season on a contract lasting until 2026, with an option to extend for an additional year, according to TransferMarkt.
Andreas Pereira is a significant contributor to Fulham's lofty 9th position on the Premier League table, despite only returning to the top flight this season. His impressive eight goal contributions in 27 games from midfield have been crucial to Fulham's campaign.
Mount's contract situation
As we reported in detail here, contract talks between Chelsea and Mason Mount have stalled as both parties are some distance apart in terms of valuation.
Mount is looking to triple his current £80,000-a-week wages, with Chelsea not willing to match that.
With his contract expiring at the end of next season, Mason Mount's days at Chelsea could be numbered.
