AFCON 2025: Cameroon Campaign So Far
Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions have enjoyed a resilient run at AFCON 2025, overcoming significant pre-tournament squad drama to reach the quarter-finals.
Under the guidance of David Pagou, the team began their campaign with a disciplined 1–0 victory over Gabon, thanks to an early strike from young forward Karl Etta Eyong.
They then secured a hard-fought 1–1 draw against holders Côte d'Ivoire, showing great mental strength to stay level with the defending champions.
Cameroon closed out the group stage by coming from behind to defeat Mozambique 2–1, finishing second in Group F only on goal difference.
This momentum carried into the knockout rounds, where they ended a 34-year competitive hoodoo against South Africa with another clinical 2–1 win in the Round of 16.
