Bendel Insurance superstar Imade Osehenkhoe eyes dream move to Arsenal
Bendel Insurance forward Imade Oshenkhoe is dreaming of a move to Europe to play for English club Arsenal.
Osehenkhoe revealed this during an interview after he inspired Insurance to an impressive win in the NPFL.
The striker became the first player to score in the 2023 NPFL season when he opened the scoring in a stunning 2-0 win over Akwa United in the new campaign's curtian raiser two weeks ago.
His goal propelled the Benin Arsenal to shock the former champions in front on their home fans in what was the first game in the NPFL following their promotion.
However, Osehenkhoe wasn't too excited by the goal but was grateful to have his name written in the history book of the Nigerian top division.
"The goal didn't change anything," he said. "I was grateful to be able to write my name in the Nigerian league history book."
Imade eyes ambitious move to Arsenal
Having played for several Premier League sides so far in a career, which began in 2019 at Insurance, the 22-year-old is aiming higher now.
According to the former Uniben star, his ultimate dream would be to play for Premier League side, Arsenal but not after he has conquered the NPFL.
"My next ambition is to play in Europe, possibly Arsenal because i am an Arsenal fan - so help me God," he added.
"This is not my first NPFL (season), i joined Insurance in 2019 when they first gained promotion to the top flight. I was outstanding by his grace and that made me clubs like Enyimba, Rivers United and Kano Pillars to notice me."
Osehenkhoe didn't join those clubs but joined Lobi Stars for a year before he returned to Insurance due to contract problems.
Now fully settled at Benin Arsenal, the talented youngster wants to make his mark in the NPFL before chasing his ambitious dream to play in the Premier League for Arsenal.
"Moving from university football to the NPFL is a huge progress," he added. "I pray to leave a big landmark (in the NPFL) then possibly move to Europe from here (Insurance) because i have a big ambition."
Imade will be looking to impress again for Insurance this time at home when they welcome last season's runners-up, Plateau United to Benin for matchday two on Thursday.
United came from behind three times to ensure a share of the spoils against a very stubborn Shooting Stars during their opener last Sunday and will be hoping for a better outing in Benin.
