The 28-year-old joined the Reds in the winter transfer window of 2022 for a reported €54 million. He has shone in spells, particularly the first half of this season, in which he was integral to Liverpool opening a lead at the top of the Premier League table. Barcelona’s chase for Diaz

Deco’s admiration for the Colombian is a poorly kept secret, with only their weak financial position preventing them from making a move previously.

The Portuguese hinted that they would sign a player of Diaz’s profile in his presser after the league triumph, stating that they needed to acquire more players with similar properties as Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

According to Relevo, Barcelona’s financial situation has improved, and despite the winger’s €85 million valuation, the Blaugrana will be able to make the deal happen, provided they sell players this summer.

Barcelona warned not to sign Diaz

Meanwhile, former Barcelona scout Bojan Krkic Sr. has discouraged Barcelona from signing Luis Diaz, urging them to commit to signing Marcus Rashford instead.

The 62-year-old served as a member of the Barcelona scouting team for a decade and is the father of former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic Jr., who is now a member of the Barcelona sporting department.

Krkic, who is an expert on player profiling, acknowledged Diaz’s quality but added that he can be quite inconsistent. Hence, he urged the Blaugrana to move for Rashford instead.
