Bandari FC continued their impressive run of form under interim coach Twahir Muhiddin as they beat Sofapaka 2-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Red-hot forward Abdallah Hassan and James Kinyanjui were the heroes for the Mombasa-based side who moved to sixth place on the table courtesy of the win.

The Dockers were the brighter side in the early exchanges and should have gone ahead after 30 minutes when Hassan let fly but the goalkeeper was equal to the task.

Batoto ba Mungu stayed resolute in defence to force a goalless first half but they could not handle the pressure after the break.

Just two minutes after restart, Hassan got his goal with a great effort, slotting home his 11th goal of the season, as the Dockers started reaping the fruits of their endeavour.

Kinyanjui then scored the second after 61 minutes with Sofapaka having no answers to Bandari’s pressure.

The Mombasa-based outfit have now gone six games without defeat, the win making it back-to-back victories for the second time over that period, as they look to seal a top-five finish in the league in their final two matches.

The Dockers have now amassed 54 points, three behind Kenya Police FC and KCB, who are all tied on 57 and sit in fourth and fifth places respectively. The Law Enforcers and Bankers, however, have a game in hand over Muhiddin’s men.

Bandari host Kariobangi Sharks in their next league fixture before ending the season with an away clash against Posta Rangers.
