Following the defeat, the defender claimed that the players had already proven their quality on the biggest stage, citing their recent FIFA Club World Cup victory as evidence.

What Tosin said

Speaking after the match, Tosin emphasised the team's determination to fight for every point and rejected doubts about their ability to challenge Europe's elite.

"No, I think you guys know age has absolutely nothing to do with it," he said. "You saw what we did in the Club World Cup to become world champions."

"We had a young team then and we had a young team today. We're just always out there to fight," as reported by Caughtoffside.

The former Manchester City defender reaffirmed the Blues' commitment to bounce back and turn their fortunes around in the remaining group stage matches.

"Obviously, we have seven games left, and we are going out to try and win all of them. That's our focus," he added.

Tosin, who arrived at Stamford Bridge on a free transfer, was a key part of Chelsea's recent FIFA Club World Cup triumph in the USA.

The experienced defender hopes the young squad can quickly move past the defeat and demonstrate their quality in upcoming fixtures, both domestically and in Europe.
