Christian Coleman: Sucks to Miss Top 3
Following his fifth-place finish, Christian Coleman has since chosen to focus on the positives and shift his attention to the next assignment.
This marks the second consecutive year Christian Coleman will miss out on the 100 at a global event, following last year’s US Olympic trials.
In the men’s 100m final, Christian Coleman could only afford a fourth-place finish in the men’s 100m and 200m finals. He represented the US in the men’s 4x100m relay, but they were disqualified due to a faulty baton exchange.
The last time Christian Coleman competed at a World Championships was in 2023, in Budapest, Hungary, where he finished fifth in the men’s 100m final.
“Against all odds. 9.86s today. Sucks to miss top 3, but we right where we need to be and headed in the right direction. God is the greatest!!!” Christian Coleman said in a tweet on X (Twitter).
Sha’Carri Richardson Arrested After Confrontation with Christian Coleman
Meanwhile, reigning world 100m champion Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested last weekend for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
According to a police report obtained by The Associated Press, Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested Sunday on a fourth-degree domestic violence charge.
This comes just days before she competed in the opening round of the 100m at the US track and field championships in Eugene, Oregon, where she has an automatic bye to the world championships in September as the defending champion.
The 25-year-old Richardson was booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) in Des Moines, Washington, at 6:54 p.m. Sunday and released Monday at 1:13 p.m. Sha’Carri Richardson's agent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The police report states that an airport officer was alerted to a disturbance between Sha'Carri Richardson and her boyfriend, sprinter Christian Coleman, by a TSA supervisor.
Camera footage reviewed by the officer showed Sha’Carri Richardson grabbing Christian Coleman's backpack and shoving him into a wall after he attempted to move around her. The report also indicates Richardson threw an object, possibly headphones, at Coleman.
