Ademola Lookman: It's no secret — Inter chief confirms interest in Super Eagles star
Inter’s CEO Piero Ausilio has confirmed that they have interest in Ademola Lookman and are in negotiations to sign him. However, he admitted that they are concurrently working on backup options if they fail to land the Nigerian.
What he said
During an interview with Sky Sports Italia, Ausilio confirmed that they were making a move for Lookman and had already contacted Atalanta.
He was also asked about their links to Manchester United's Jadon Sancho and Juventus's Nico Gonzalez. While he did not confirm the reports, he did not deny them either. However, it stated that other options are contingencies should they fail to land their preferred option, Lookman.
“It’s no secret; we are interested. We’ve spoken with Atalanta and made our expectations clear,” he said, per Brila.
“We want to sign him, and Atalanta will be the ideal partner, regardless of our interests or the player’s wishes.
“Sancho and Nico Gonzalez? We can’t just focus in one direction. Lookman is our top choice. If we can’t make it happen, we’ll look for alternatives.”
The Nerazzurri have already reached an agreement on personal terms with the former Leipzig winger but are still some way from Atalanta’s €50 million demand. Atletico Madrid are also interested in the Nigerian but are yet to make concrete steps.
