'A great person'- Italy star on ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho
Despite leaving AS Roma on acrimonious terms, Nicolo Zaniolo was full of praise for I Giallorossi manager, Jose Mourinho.
Zaniolo was under the tutelage of the Portuguese manager for one and a half seasons, participating and scoring the winning goal in Roma's Conference League triumph, but he forced a move out of the capital club in the winter window.
Zaniolo on Mourinho
Zaniolo left Roma for Galatasaray earlier this year after a protracted transfer saga in which he was alienated by the fans.
The terms of his exit were unpleasant, and despite that, Zaniolo still spoke highly of Jose Mourinho, the Roma boss.
The 23-year-old told Gazzetta Dello Sport what he thought about Jose Mourinho from a personal angle, saying the manager was always good to him.
He said Jose was a great manager and a great person, and he enjoyed significant game time under the two-time Champions League winner.
“He's a great coach and a great person,” Zaniolo opined.
“He made me play almost all the time. Of course, he's used to managing stars, and I wasn't one of them."
Zaniolo could move back to the top 5 leagues
The Italy international joined Galatasaray after the transfer window in the top European leagues had closed, but the window in Turkey was still open.
However, he is expected to leave the Istanbul giants soon, as there's a €35 million release clause in his contract.
