SOYA Awards founder Paul Tergat has expressed his delight after the annual gala landed a Ksh 6 million boost ahead of hosting the 20th edition of the event.
As the event organisers gear up to host the 20th edition of the Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) gala, they have received a massive financial boost of Ksh 6 million.
The event, scheduled for March 1 at the Kenya International Convention Center, has received Ksh 3 million from the National Social Security Fund, and Ksh 1 million from the Kenya Pipeline Company.

ATHLETICS Soya Awards: Kelvin Kiptum nominated as event organisers announce date changes in his honour
SOYA Awards organisers have announced a change in the event dates in honour of the late Kelvin Kiptum as they also nominated him in the Sportsman of the Year category list.
A further Ksh 1 million was pumped in by the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority and an additional Ksh 1 million from the Communications Authority of Kenya.

Speaking during a presser at the Serena Hotel on Tuesday, the award's founder Paul Tergat noted that the support would come in handy in the bid to host a successful event.
''We truly appreciate our partners passion for sports growth in the country and hope for a long partnership in the years to come,'' Tergat reiterated.
Meanwhile, the NSSF corporate communications manager Dr. Chris Khisa was in awe of the awards admitting that they acknowledge athletes who do exemplary well.
''We are happy to be part of this event (SOYA awards) and we will continue to chip in in order to boost the country's sports landscape,'' he added.
On her part, the Communication Authority of Kenya communication manager Purity Ndwiga said: “This substantial commitment underscores the agency’s unwavering dedication to uplifting the sporting community and nurturing excellence.

Five nominees announced for Sportsman Living with Disability category at the 2023 SOYA Awards
Titus Maundu Mwonga will battle it out with four other nominees for the Sportsman Living with Disability Award at the 2023 Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
"We are very proud to be associated with soya awards, which continues to inspire our sportspeople, contributing greatly to the growth of sports in the country."
Meanwhile, the prestigious awards gala will honour exceptional sportspersons from the past calendar year. The finalists who were selected by distinguished panel of judges, will be unveiled this week.
