Kavisi was forced to retire from last year's event due to engine problems.

KCB bank sponsored driver Evans Kavisi believes this year’s WRC Safari Rally will be much better than the previous edition where he was forced to retire along the way due to engine problems.

Kavisi noted that everything is set for the highly anticipated event scheduled for Thursday, June 22 to Sunday, June 25 in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

“We generally are done with the car…we have just come to test and see if everything works together. There are a few things we need to rectify but there’s enough time for that,” he told KBC Sport.

On his part, his navigator Absalom Aswani, is also bubbling with confidence ahead of the event and revealed that they will be keen to impress the crowds.

He revealed that they have started preparations early and that should pay off well. However, the duo has not competed in any of the local events.

“We have never been this much prepared…both mentally and physically. We are looking forward to this event despite not having much luck in participating in local events.

However, we have done a lot of preparations and several tests, we are ready. We had to open the whole car and redo it afresh. We hope and believe that everything is going to be smooth,” he said.

Meanwhile, the event preparations are on course and excitement is building up after event organisers announced that more than 40 drivers have confirmed participation.
