Teams have also been advised to continue with their registration and participation confirmation.

The inaugural Benjamin Ayimba Rugby Legacy Tournament received a huge financial boost of Ksh1.2 million from Kenya Airports Authority on thursday, March 30.

The tournament is scheduled for Friday 7 to Sunday 9 April at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos and it will be staged to celebrate former Shujaa head coach, the late Benjamin Ayimba. It will consist of three categories including the men's, womens, and developmental sides.

The organisers had appealed for more partners to come onboard and support the tournament and with KAA’s support, the preparation towards the tournament will be seamless.

The orginising committee chairman Quicks Nyakwaka noted that with the boost, they will be able to deliver a top-notch event.

“This is a timely boost to our efforts to be able to deliver a top-class tournament in remembrance of our departed brother and also continue to grow the game of Rugby in the country. So far, preparations are well on course and we shall deliver as per the expectations of Kenyans,” he said.

Meanwhile, KAA Marketing and Business Development General Manager Jack Bwana noted that they are keen on supporting and nurturing sports and expressed his excitement after signing the deal.

“We are proud to be associated with this tournament that honours the late Rugby icon and legend Ayimba because of what he achieved for Kenya,” he said.
