Namwamba also visited Uhuru Park Gardens to inspect the processes taking place in preparation for the global event.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has expressed optimism about delivering a world-class World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally come June.

The event is slated for June 22-25 and with just a few months to go, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chair Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo is burning the midnight oil with his team to ensure they live up to expectations.

They seem to be on the right course as Namwamba has expressed confidence in them to make sure everything is ready by the D-day.

The CS noted that he had a meeting with the LOC chair Tundo and Kenya Motorsports Federation president Phineas Kimathi on Wednesday, March 1, and they briefed him on the progress made so far.

“All is set for Safari Rally on June 22-25. Briefed today by the Local Organizing Committee Chair Carl 'Flash' Tundo and Kenya Motor Sports Federation CEO Phineas Kimathi who assured me of delivering a memorable event, which also marks the rally’s 70th anniversary,” the CS posted on his twitter page.

Namwamba, in the company of Tundo and Kimathi also visited the Uhuru Park Gardens on Thursday, March 3, to inspect the processes taking place in preparation for the global event.

The venue has been earmarked for the flagging off of the Safari rally.
