Seychelles coach Ralph Jean-Louis admits his team is in for a rough time against Harambee Stars but has identified Kenya’s key strength that he hopes to nullify.

Seychelles coach Ralph Jean-Louis has admitted that his team faces an uphill task against Harambee Stars in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

Kenya host the island nation at Kasarani Stadium with hopes of returning back to winning ways following their 3-1 loss to The Gambia on Friday and there is optimism among fans that Seychelles ‘will fall.’

However, Jean-Louis says they will not go down without a fight as he has been studying Benni McCarthy’s team and knows how they play.

“I have observed the Kenyan matches and we know tactically; they play long balls to the target players and we will see how to counter this tactic tomorrow,” Jean-Louis told the media on Monday.

The tactician, however, agrees that it will be a big battle for his charges as he has carried a very young team to Nairobi which he will be testing ahead of a major regional tournament in the coming days.

“We do have four players who are under 17 so you can imagine it is a young team because our objective is to prepare a team for the Indian Ocean Island games,” he added.

“The players are focused on the match itself. Obviously, Kenya wants to impress their spectators after losing their previous match,” Jean-Louis further said on what he expects from Harambee Stars.

Kenya secured a 5-0 win over Seychelles when the two sides last met in November 2023 as captain Michael Olunga scored twice with Masoud Juma, Ronney Onyango and Benson Omala also on target.

Overall, Harambee Stars have faced the island nation four times, winning all of them, and scoring 14 goals with none conceded.
