CHAN 2024: Aboud Omar Praises Manzur Okwaro’s Talent
Speaking after Harambee Stars claimed a 1-0 victory over Morocco on Sunday, August 10, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, the Kenya Police FC defender noted that having Manzur Okwaro in the squad is an advantage.
He revealed that Manzur Okwaro is exceptionally talented and that he can fit into any position, something that makes him a unique player.
Aboud Omar pointed out that Manzur Owaro should be protected at all costs, since he is a representation of what the future holds in terms of Kenyan football.
“One word to describe Manzur is that he is energetic…that young man has a lot of energy, big up to him. He has gotten this golden opportunity, he plays as a centerback, sometimes he plays as a leftback, and now he is in the midfield, and he has taken that position,” Aboud Omar said.
“He is a utility in our squad, and as a team, we are happy to have a player like him because in case there is a challenge anywhere, he can fit in.
“I believe if Ryan could have run out of gas, he would have played well as a striker. We are lucky to have him, and we shall just do our best to support him.”
CHAN 2024: Benni McCarthy In Awe of Manzur Okwaro
Benni McCarthy has also been vocal about Manzur Okwaro’s versatility, noting that he had to switch things up in Harambee Stars match against DR Congo and place the youngster in the midfield.
“DR Congo wanted to build around their big No.9. I needed someone strong, quick, and clever to break that supply chain. Manzur did exactly that,” Benni McCarthy said.
“He’s physically strong, very good technically, and plays with such fearlessness. That’s the kind of bravery we needed.”
Manzur Okwaro’s consistent performances and adaptability have not only earned praise from his captain and coach but also cemented his place as one of Harambee Stars’ brightest young prospects at CHAN 2024.
