Sofapaka boss Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno is wary of potent giant-slaying Bungoma Stars ahead of their FKF Cup Round of 16 encounter.

Sofapaka head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has emphasized the importance of not underestimating Division 2 side Bungoma Stars, whom they will face this weekend in a crucial Mozzart Bet Cup round of 16 match.

Batoto Ba Mungu will host the fourth-tier club at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, with hopes of securing a victory and advancing to the last eight of the tournament.

Ahead of the game, Zico emphasizes the importance of respecting their opponents and giving their best effort to avoid the potential embarrassment of being eliminated by a lower-tier club.

"We must afford our opponents the respect they deserve and give our best in the game to avoid the embarrassment that comes with being eliminated by a lower-tier club," Zico told the club's website ahead of the match.

Batoto Ba Mungu will host the fourth-tier club at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, aiming to secure a spot in the last eight of the tournament.

"Bungoma Stars is not an easy team since they eliminated Bandari and Talanta, so we are very ready for the challenge and treat this match with the seriousness it deserves," Zico affirmed, acknowledging the threat posed by their opponents.

In preparation for the game, Sofapaka utilized the FIFA international break to gauge their readiness through friendly matches.

"We have had very good training sessions, and for me, this was like a mid-season training camp. We have tried different combinations which will help the team win matches going forward," Zico commented.

Meanwhile, Bungoma, under the guidance of Silvanus Otema, will be aiming to continue their impressive run in the tournament by upsetting Sofapaka and advancing to the quarter-finals.
