Both the Talanta Hela u-19 boys and girls' sides are now in the semi finals of the Costa Durada Cup taking place in Tarragona, Spain.

The Talanta Hela U19 teams in Spain have showcased outstanding performances as they advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Costa Daurada Cup held in Salou, Spain.

Here is a recap of day three action of the escapade taking place in Tarragona, Spain.

Girls' Triumph

The Talanta Hela U19 ladies football team continued their winning streak by securing a hard-fought victory against Sporting de Portugal with a scoreline of 3-2 at the Futbol Salou Sports Center.

Elizabeth Mideva displayed her prowess by netting two goals, supported by Marion Musanga who contributed another goal. This triumph followed their convincing 4-0 win over CE Jupiter in the opening pool match, with Mideva and Musanga also making significant contributions in that fixture.

Coach Jackline Juma expressed her satisfaction with her team's performance, emphasizing their determination to clinch the tournament title.

"A win is a win. We thank God for the win. Lisbon is a very good team. You can tell by how they are playing. They got the experience. It was a tough match but all in all we got the win. We will take one match at a time. When the game started there was stage fright but they get better each day," she said.

Striker Marion Musanga echoed her coach's sentiments, highlighting the significance of playing against international teams and the exposure it provides to the players. 

Musanga emphasized the importance of following the coach's instructions and delivering their best on the field, underscoring the tournament's value in attracting the attention of scouts.

Boys' Victory

Under the guidance of coach Stanley Okumbi, the Talanta Hela U19 boys' team showcased their resilience by staging a remarkable comeback to defeat Usurbil FT with a 2-0 victory just before halftime. Derrick Oketch, the team's scorer, expressed his gratitude towards the Talanta Hela initiative for its role in identifying, nurturing, and monetizing talents, providing opportunities for young players to pursue professional careers.

Oketch highlighted the team's confidence and preparedness, attributing their success to rigorous preparation and the support received from Talanta Hela.

"The game was good. There were no major difficulties. The opponents were very weak, we just missed opportunities to score. Our approach was great. We came to compete and look for exposure," he started.

"We feel amazing. Winning this title is our ultimate goal and we will be the happiest if we achieve that. Scoring in a foreign land gives us motivation to keep going," he continued.

"We are well prepared. The group stages prepared us well. Talanta Hela has helped us grow our talents and reach this far, even playing abroad. We thank God and the CS for this," he concluded.

The Talanta Hela initiative has played a crucial role in nurturing talents and providing opportunities for young players to compete on the global stage. Both the girls' and boys' teams have demonstrated remarkable skill, determination, and unity, reflecting the effectiveness of talent development programs in Kenya.
