The coach reflects on Saturday's encounter against the Law Enforcers.

FC Talanta head coach Ken Kenyatta believes referee Israel Mpaima's decision to award Kenya Police FC a penalty in Saturday's Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash was totally wrong.

Alex Luganji gave Talanta the 49th-minute lead, but they suffered a setback when Mpaima pointed on the spot for a foul on Duke Abuya by goalkeeper James Omusinde.

Police leading scorer Elvis Rupia stepped up and coolly converted a 57th-minute penalty to make it 1-1 in a match day 15 fixture played at Kasarani Annex Stadium.

"That was not a penalty. The referee clearly misread the collision to be a foul when it wasn't," Kenyatta said after the game.

Moments before the penalty was taken, one of Talanta's players went haring after Mpaima and seemed to unleash a torrent of abuse towards the official. Unsurprisingly he was shown a straight red, causing a furious reaction from his Talanta teammates.

"My players protested, and I had to enter the field and calm the situation. Apart from that, he had a good game," said Kenyatta.

Kenyatta, however, was full of praise for his charges for standing their ground after being reduced to ten men.

"My players played very well, but that red card put them under pressure, but they defended well. During training, I normally train my players on handling such situations as in the game of football," added Kenyatta.

The draw saw FC Talanta remain in 14th position on the league standings with 10 points from 15 matches.

Talanta will be in action on Saturday as they lock horns with Nzoia Sugar at Kasarani Annex Stadium.
