The Batoto ba Mungu face a setback just before a crucial match against AFC Leopards which is set to affect their preparations.

2009 Premier League champions Sofapaka have been hit by a major blow just hours before their crucial clash with AFC Leopards.

Former Kenya international, Francis Xavier, who had been serving as the assistant coach for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side, has abruptly resigned from his position, leaving Sofapaka in a state of uncertainty.

Xavier, a seasoned coach with a wealth of experience, had joined Sofapaka in October to assist head coach Ezekiel Akwana.

His departure, however, comes as a surprise to many, as the reasons behind it remain undisclosed.

In an interview with Pulse Sports, Xavier stated, "It is true that I have left the role at the club due to reasons that I can't disclose at the moment. I wish the club all the best in their undertaking."

As Sofapaka prepares to face AFC Leopards on Saturday at Machakos Stadium, this sudden change in coaching staff could not have come at a worse time for the team.

Batoto ba Mungu find themselves in a precarious position in the league standings, currently occupying the bottom spot with just seven points from 11 matches.

Their struggles have been most evident in their defensive line, having conceded a staggering 19 goals, highlighting a glaring weakness that they need to address urgently.

For AFC Leopards, this unexpected coaching shake-up may be seen as a ray of hope as they seek to secure their second win of the season.

Ingwe have faced a challenging season themselves, with only one victory, six draws, and three losses in their 11 matches.

Despite their struggles, the departure of Xavier from Sofapaka could disrupt their opponents' preparations and offer AFC Leopards an opportunity to exploit any potential weaknesses in their opponent's setup.

While Xavier's exit remains shrouded in mystery, it is clear that Sofapaka will have to quickly adapt to this unexpected change as they aim to recover from their recent 5-0 defeat at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz.
