Kegogi FC from Kisii were left embarrassed after conceding 31 goals as they suffered early elimination from the ongoing annual Malala Super Cup in Kakamega

The annual Malala Super Cup continues to thrill fans but one team has been the subject of discussion after shipping in over 30 goals in two days.

Kegogi FC from Kisii were among the invited teams for the tournament which draws participants from Western Kenya counties of Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia and Vihiga but were left embarrassed after exiting the tournament at the group stage following heavy defeats.

The team were thrashed 11-0 by Compel FC in their opening match before suffering a 9-0 loss to Galacticos FC and any hopes of exiting the tournament with pride were dashed when they lost yet again 11-0, this time to Malaba Giants FC from Teso North Constituency on Wednesday.

The heavy defeat has made Kegogi the laughing stock of the tournament, given they received an invitation courtesy of their win at the Sakata Dimba na Japheth tournament which was sponsored by Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi.

Kegogi were among eight guest teams invited foor the tournament with the others being Pokot FC from West Pokot county, Iten FC (Elgeyo Marakwet), Ptikii (Baringo), Turkana FC (Turkana), Luminous FC (Kericho), Suba United (Homa Bay) and Githunguri All Stars from Nairobi.

The five-day event has attracted teams from 38 constituencies divided into 10 pools, all vying for the Ksh3 million cash prize.

Matches are played in eight venues in Mumias with the Mumias Complex hosting games under floodlights.

Munami FC from Kakamega are the defending champions and easily sailed through to the knockout stage after beating Ptikii 4-3 before edging Toloso 1-0.
