Shabana interim coach Oscar Kambona has explained what he is aiming at in the first half of the season following the club’s poor start to life back in the Premier League.

Shabana interim coach Oscar Kambona is targeting at least 12 points by the end of the first leg which will be crucial in the team avoiding relegation at the end of the campaign.

Tore Bobe have had a tough return to the Premier League after 17 years in the cold and their poor run saw coach Sammy Okoth handed his marching orders this month after winning one of his 10 Premier League games.

His assistant Kambona was handed the reigns in an interim capacity and started with a 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar, something he wants to build on in the remaining five games before the first half of the season concludes.

Shabana have 10 points from 11 matches and have a major test on Saturday when they face log leaders Posta Rangers in Saturday’s early kickoff in Machakos.

“We are all going out for a win which will be good for us because our target in the first leg is 12 points which will put us in a comfortable position to stay in the Premier League,” said Kambona.

“The management has been very supportive and I cannot see any challenge at the moment. The only thing was our training ground. We had to switch because the rains were heavy and making the pitch soggy.”

Kambona also took time to laud the impact of Shabana supporters who have been turning up in large numbers at various venues across the country which he hopes will be the case again in Machakos.

“The fans have been very supportive and I promise them a happy ending. They are always with us, the 12th man, we do not feel pressure when playing away. Every match for us feels like home because we always have the 12th man,” said Kambona.

Kambona appears to have revised the club’s targets as his sentiments go against the top 10 finish of his former boss Okoth or the top five of the club hierarchy who recently revealed that a higher placing on the table will see them bank more from their sponsors.

Shabana have five tricky matches before the first leg concludes as after Posta Rangers, they take on KCB, Kakamega Homeboyz and Bidco United all in the top eight, with only bottom-of-the-table Sofapaka looking a little easier on paper.
