Rising Stars are set to leave for Cairo for the U-20 AFCON tournament and the exact travelling date has finally been revealed.

The Kenya U-20 men’s national team, popularly known as the Rising Stars, will now travel directly to Cairo, Egypt, on Monday April 21 ahead of the upcoming  Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

This follows a change in the team’s preparation schedule, with the initial plan to hold a training camp in Morocco being shelved

The adjustment comes after the latest tournament draw placed Kenya in Group B alongside Morocco, Tunisia, and Nigeria—making a pre-tournament stay in Morocco strategically unviable.

The team will now finalise its preparations in Egypt before kicking off their campaign on May 1st, 2025 at 10:00 PM EAT, with a clash against Morocco at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

Their second group match is scheduled for May 4th 2025 at 7:00 PM EAT, where they will take on Tunisia.

The Rising Stars will wrap up their group stage fixtures with a date against Nigeria three days later.

The U20 FCON will run from  April 27th to May 18th 2025, with matches taking place in Cairo, Ismailia, and Suez.

The Rising Stars booked their slot in the continent showpiece after narrowly losing 2-1 to Tanzania during the CECAFA qualifiers held in December 2024, Tanzania.

The squad boasts a blend of abroad-based players led by skipper Amos Wanjala. FKF Premier League top talents like AFC Leopards' Kelly Madada and Hassan Beja are also part of the Salim Babu 26-man squad.
