Despite being sent off late in the match after receiving a second yellow card in the 86th minute, Aubameyang remained the pivotal figure as the Panthers held on for a vital win that keeps their chances of qualifying to the 2026 FIFA World Cup alive ahead of their last game in CAF Group F.

Work Hard, Believe in Yourself

Speaking after the match, the 36-year-old emphasized self-belief and discipline as the two keys to achieving and sustaining success in football.

“You have to work hard and believe in yourself,” Aubameyang said. “If you want to have longevity in your career, the most important thing is to take care of your body. Keep the same routine and stay consistent. Above all, always believe in yourself.”

Reflecting on what keeps him motivated even after years at the top, Aubameyang said the desire to represent his country and inspire fans continues to drive him.

“I’m very motivated. When you have the chance to go to a World Cup, you have to be more than motivated.

“ We have a very good group, and now that I’m 36, I just want to enjoy playing football and give enjoyment to the people.”

Aubameyang’s four-goal heroics and leadership have been widely praised, highlighting his decisive impact in Gabon’s pursuit of qualification.

Gabon now shift focus to their next World Cup qualifying fixture against Burundi, knowing that a win could see them automatically qualify for the World Cup if the other result from the match between Kenya and Ivory Coast set to take place on Tuesday bends in their favor.
