Agwanda is reportedly among seven players set to leave Shabana this January, but head coach Sammy Omollo ‘Pamzo’ praised his display against Mara Sugar in a friendly match.

Shabana head coach Sammy Omollo ‘Pamzo’ has praised striker Enoch Agwanda’s display against Mara Sugar in a friendly match played on Thursday afternoon amidst claims the striker is set to depart the club.

Numerous reports have claimed the striker, who also played for Kakamega Homeboyz, KCB, and Gor Mahia is set to depart the club at the end of the January transfer window.

According to People Sports, a top club official had claimed Agwanda would be one of seven players to leave the club.

“It is true we will release seven players and Enock [Agwanda] is one of them,” the source told People Sports, adding: “The players who will leave will be replaced immediately and as we speak our technical bench is currently working out on the replacements.

Pamzo was however quick to praise his display against Sugar, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

“I was pleased by Agwanda’s display in the first half because the first goal was scored because of his efforts,” Pamzo told Ndizi TV.

"We know he is very good from throw-in situations and we scored from a set-piece situation (instigated from his throw-in) so it was good.”

Agwanda has been praised by those with a keen interest in local football over the years for his long-flat bullet through which has always given his teams an edge from set-piece situations, and it looks adamant that he could extend his stay at Shabana given Pamzo has concluded that his side are dangerous from set-piece situations.

“It shows you that our team is very good at taking advantage of dead ball situations, but we will have to find out ways of scoring more from open play.”
