The Sharks Academy graduate has played for the national Under-17 side at AFCON qualifiers.

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has credited youngster Sigmun Maina for his contribution in the 2-0 win over Sofapaka.

The young midfielder combined well with the rest of the squad and scored the opener, adding to the first goal he had netted earlier in the season.

In an earlier interview, Muluya challenged his forward line to get his team over the finish line, and he is happy that the prodigy is leading the way.

"I am happy Maina has scored two goals in two matches. He is a young player who turns out for our U-20 side. He has shown me he can because I have many senior players who have yet to score a single goal.

He has not clocked full minutes in both matches, so we will look at how we can build him and become a better player," said Muluya.

Muluya also praised his defense for keeping a clean sheet at the Ksarani Annex and said he is now looking at their next league game against Wazito FC in Muhoroni.

"We scored and defended well unlike the past matches where we scored and conceded. This is very important because we're going to the next game against Wazito in a good mood," noted Muluya.

Sofapaka coach David Ouma was again disappointed by his players, especially the defenders.

"We didn't convert our chances and defended badly. These are some of the mistakes we have to rectify before our next matches," said Ouma.

Kariobangi Sharks have collected 20 points from 16 matches played and are sitting in 11th place in the league standings, while Sofapaka are placed 13th with 18 points from 17 matches.
