The 28-year-old defender, takes charge as team captain, focusing on unity and success as Tusker prepares for the new season.

Tusker FC newly appointed captain Charles Momanyi  has shared his thoughts from the team's training camp in Mwanza, Tanzania.

The 28-year-old defender, who recently assumed the captaincy after the departure of veteran midfielder Humphrey Mieno, radiated enthusiasm and determination as he discussed the team's goals for the upcoming season.

Having bid farewell to Mieno and vice captain Jackson Macharia due to contract expirations, the spotlight now shines on Momanyi as he leads the team into a new era.

Speaking about their pre-season progress, Momanyi said, "We have started pre-season on a high note. Every player in the camp is in good spirits ahead of the new season."

One of the primary aims of the pre-season camp is to facilitate cohesion within the team, particularly as new faces join the squad.

"We are using this time to gel as we have new players in the team, and this week we are using it for bonding,” he stated.

With their sights set on the upcoming season, the Brewers  squad is driven by the aspiration to improve and excel. Momanyi underlined this aspiration by saying, "Our aim is to be better in the upcoming season."

In addition to fostering a sense of unity, Momanyi stressed the significance of respect among team members.

Regardless of individual capabilities or positions, he urged every player to treat one another with respect.

"I urge every player to be respectful to each other despite their capabilities and positions in the team," he concluded.

Assisting Captain Momanyi in his leadership role are Brian Bwire and Michael Kibwage, who have been named as his deputies.

This trio will play a pivotal role in guiding the team both on and off the field, ensuring that the squad operates as a cohesive unit with a shared vision.

Momanyi's journey to captaincy has been a steady progression as he previously served as the assistant captain for quite some time after joining Tusker FC from Gor Mahia in 2021.
