Mogadishu City Club won the Somalia league in May and therefore qualified for next season’s Champions League but will not play at home due to the security situation in the country.
Despite having a huge fanbase back home, the club will have to rely on diaspora fans for support during their Champions League campaign that will begin at the preliminary round.

Mogadishu City Club are one of the most successful clubs in Somalia, having won the league title 11 times, although they had to wait for five years before they claimed the 2024-25 crown.
The club is also home to Kenyan players Telvin Maina, the former Kibera Black Stars midfielder, and ex-Mathare United attacker Mark Kwasira,who will have an opportunity to play at home during the CAF inter-club competition.
Founded in 1993, Mogadishu City Club won the league with a match to spare when they beat Raadsan FC 3-1 in May, taking their tally to 56 points, nine ahead of second-placed Heegan FC.
The club, fondly known as MCC, play their home matches at the newly-refurbished 65,000-seater Mogadishu Stadium, which recently hosted African legends Jay Jay Okocha, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto’o, during an exhibition match.
