The CHAN 2024 Local Organising Committee remains positive that Kenya will deliver a great tournament amid fears that the country could miss out on deadlines set by CAF.
Kenya is feeling the pressure as far as preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) is concerned with infrastructure upgrade still behind schedule.
This led to a strong warning from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the slow progress of stadium upgrade with Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums yet to be cleared while Ulinzi Complex is the only one of five training facilities that has received the greenlight.
That has led to fear that Kenya might miss the deadline with the tournament set to kick off on August 2 in the country alongside Uganda and Tanzania but the Local Organising Committee is putting on a brave face.

CAF Inspectors Expect Kenya to Deliver
“With two months to go, we are working round the clock on all deliverables. The good thing is that CAF officials have been here with us and we are constantly updating them on everything and they are giving us huge support.”
CAF officials, led by secretary general Veron Mosengo-Omba, were in Kenya last week when they assessed a number of venues and while there was cautious optimism, there are still fears that Kenya might lag behind with the facilities required to be handed back by July.
