Kenya's amputee team readies for African Para Games in Ghana, overcoming past kit issues, aiming for improved performance.

The Kenyan amputee team has touched down in Ghana with a newfound spirit of optimism, as they gear up to participate in the highly anticipated African Para Games, set to unfold from September 3 to September 12.

The team's arrival on Monday morning marked the beginning of what promises to be an inspiring journey of determination, strength, and sportsmanship.

Having undergone rigorous training and preparation, the Kenyan amputee team has been honing their skills and building camaraderie at the Kasarani Sports Complex since August 25, 2023.

This focused effort reflects their unwavering commitment to showcasing their abilities on an international stage, despite the challenges they have faced in the past.

One notable improvement that immediately caught the attention of both fans and observers alike is the team's attire.

In stark contrast to previous years when they encountered difficulties with their kits, this time, the Kenyan team arrived decked out in a well-coordinated and professional ensemble.

Speaking about the challenges they faced in the past, Hashim Kamau, the Technical Director of the Kenyan Amputee Football Federation, highlighted the lack of support that hampered their preparation for similar tournaments.

“During our last tournament in Mexico, the team barely had uniforms and were forced to use attires that were branded and supplied by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. There was a lot of public uproar but we hope things will be better this time,” he stated as per KTMN.

In the tournament, Kenya has been placed in Group III, alongside formidable opponents Angola, Rwanda, and Egypt.

The players, under the guidance of their head coach Abdalla 'Viduka' Otieno, are ready to take on this challenge and represent their country with pride.

Viduka brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table and  is joined by Dalmas Otieno, who holds the distinction of being the first Kenyan player to play professional football in Turkey.
